Visual Thinking & Communication Course
A masterclass turning non-artists into visual communicators across a day of theory and practical activities

Objectives
Collaboration Campus delivers a five-day, industry-agnostic Foundation training program for leaders, senior managers, and change practitioners looking for capability uplift in their change management abilities. Each day of the program covers a different discipline needed to navigate change well — from change methodologies to public speaking to behavioural coaching — in order to develop the necessary soft skills to be a well-rounded creative and collaborative leader.
As the Lead Designer at TwoCollaborate, I was given the objective to design and deliver a Visual Thinking & Communication course that would educate people of all skill levels, how to draw and develop their visual communication skills. This was particularly challenging due to roughly 80% of participants admitting that they rarely draw or visualise on a day-to-day basis.

Outcome
The resulting full-day course I developed covers the power and science of visual communication, dismantles self-limiting beliefs around drawing, builds core drawing fundamentals through the development of a working visual vocabulary, teaches people how to deliver compelling visual presentations, and finishes off with systems scribing techniques that help participants visually communicate their problems, ideas and position.
The course has now run more than ten times, with over 200 alumni to date, including dedicated sessions for the University of Newcastle, Charles Darwin University, and the University of New South Wales. Shorter formats — including half-day programs and one-to-two-hour seminars — have also been developed to extend its reach, and the course continues to be iterated and refined upon with each new delivery.
