Animated Enrolment Guide
An end-to-end walkthrough video that simplified the enrolment process, cutting friction for students & staff alike

Objectives
The University of Sydney’s Student Administration Services were looking to improve the enrolment process for new domestic and international students. Students have to navigate up to 50 screens in the Sydney Student system, creating confusion and inefficiency for both students and staff alike. During enrolment periods, the Student Administration Services would be inundated with hundreds of phone calls from stressed-out students who were overwhelmed with the entire process and unsure how to proceed.

Outcome
Following a series of discovery workshops I ran with the university team, we mapped out the process step-by-step and identified critical points where mistakes could derail the enrolment journey. We also co-designed all of the different features that would be included in the final video to assist the student at every level.
The final output was an animated walkthrough that alleviated stress for the University of Sydney’s staff and students by having a clear, methodical video that left no ambiguity for students experiencing the intimidating process of enrolment. This included explaining any key terms and jargon with definition boxes, pop-up boxes outlining nuances that weren't explicitly clear, providing QR code links to online resources, as well as two distinct walkthroughs that catered to both domestic and international audiences respectively.
The finished video has been viewed tens of thousands of times during every enrolment period since launch, and has delivered a significant reduction in enrolment-related friction and support calls tied to simple, avoidable issues.
